Color changing lenses, also known as "photosensitive lenses.". According to the principle of reversible photochromic reaction, the lens can quickly change color under ultraviolet irradiation, block the strong light and absorb ultraviolet light, neutral absorption of visible light; return to the dark, it can quickly restore the colorless and transparent state, and ensure the transparency of the lens. Therefore, the color changing lens is suitable for indoor and outdoor use at the same time to prevent the damage of sunlight, ultraviolet light and glare to the eyes.

Color changing lenses can be divided into two types according to the different parts of the color changing lenses: substrate color changing lenses and film changing lenses.

The basic photochromic lens is a kind of photochromic compound added to the substrate of the lens. The photochromic compound pyran ring can change color and fade under light.

The film color changing lens is a high-speed spin coating on the surface of the lens to cover a layer of color changing film. According to the intensity of light and ultraviolet light, the color changing film can realize the color changing and fading through or blocking the light by using the reversible differential opening and closing of the molecular structure of the photochromic compound.
